I think so.
Sometimes I see things that just make me want to ask What on earth is going on here? A lot of times, I don’t have the answer. I’m not even sure I’ve got the right question. But, a lot of times, no one else is asking any questions. Not even incorrect ones. And yet I’m full of them. So I’m going to start asking.
One of my favorite quotes is from the TV series Kung Fu. Which is odd, because at the time, I didn’t watch it.
Master Po: Do you hear the grasshopper that is at your feet?
Young Caine: [looking down and seeing the insect] Old man, how is it that you hear these things?
Master Po: Young man, how is it that you do not?
I often feel like Po. How is it that people don’t see these things? I’ll be asking that a lot.
Grasshopper….and so that became his name. Kung Fu – good show.
Yes, it was an eastern kind of western, if you know what I mean.
It’s odd, because I never watched the show when it was current. I have the boxed set now of the first season, and have been slowly watching the episodes, as time allows.
The first time I ran across the grasshopper quote, I was stunned. I’ve been in that situation so many times I don’t know what to think. People ask me “how did you notice that, see that, remember that, make that connection?” I don’t have an answer. I have no idea how I notice or remember or connect things, any more than I have any significant understanding of how my synapses fire or how I walk or dance. I just do. I want to ask “how come you didn’t?” I don’t though, because I’m afraid my question, which is genuine, would be considered a put-down.
I really very liked this post. Can I copy it to my blog? Thank you in advance. Sincerely
Jessica: You may link to it and excerpt a part. Thank you for the complement. Michael
Your site displays incorrectly in Firefox, but content excellent! Thank you for your wise words:)
Hi Ariana:
I use Firefox myself and it displays fine here. Can you tell me what version of Firefox you’re using and in what way it displays incorrectly? Thanks. Michael
